  5.           Basic Information:
  6.  
  7.           This program provides the ability to design and print custom
  8.           letterhead and envelopes.   The system provides for an very
  9.           simple way to design a logo, etc. to be printed on the top left
  10.           side of the paper together with other address information printed
  11.           on the top right.
  12.  
  13.           The logo design is simply done using a wordprocessor or notepad
  14.           facility such as Sidekick(tm).  An x (or nonblank character)
  15.           represents a graphic dot on the printer.  A blank represents a
  16.           space the size of a graphic dot.  You design the logo using
  17.           blanks and X's on the wordprocessor, creating the logo line by
  18.           line.

  20.           Required hardware includes an Epson or IBM printer or compatible.
  21.           An IBM type of graphics display is useful.  Also a pop up type of
  22.           ASCII text editor or wordprocessor such as SideKick(tm) is very
  23.           helpful.

  25.           Program Functions:
  26.  
  27.              1.  Display the logo on an IBM graphics screen. - This gives
  28.                  an indication of how the logo will appear when printed.
  29.                  The output from the wordprocessor file is converted to
  30.                  graphics and displayed on the IBM type graphics monitor.

  32.              2.  Print the letterhead. - This option will print the logo
  33.                  on the top left of the paper.  If an address is provided
  34.                  on the appropriate file,  it will be printed on the top
  35.                  right of the paper.

  37.              3.  Print Envelope - This prints an envelope with the logo on
  38.                  the top left and the senders address below in very small
  39.                  type, if desired.  Additionally, the mailing address is
  40.                  requested from the keyboard and will be printed on the
  41.                  envelope.

  43.              4.  Display documentation. - This is a detailed description of
  44.                  how to get started.
  45.  
  46.              5.  Change program default settings. - This option allows the
  47.                  standard program defaults to be changed.  Standard
  48.                  filenames , number of letterhead copies to be printed,
  49.                  printer address, etc. may be modified.

  51.           Files:
  52.  
  53.              1.  The output from the your wordprocessor (the ASCII file of
  54.                  X's and blanks) is saved with an extension of .PTN. The
  55.                  default name is LETRHEAD.PTN, but may be modified to
  56.                  anything.PTN as needed using option 5 on the main menu.
  57.                  This is the only required file.
  58.  
  59.              2.  An optional file with an extension of .ADR contains the
  60.                  address to be printed on the top right of the letterhead.
  61.                  This also may be created with a wordprocessor.  The

  66.                  default filename is LETRHEAD.ADR but may be changed to
  67.                  anything.ADR using option 5 of the main menu.

  69.              3.  An optional file with the extension of .ENV contains the
  70.                  address to be printed below the logo on the envelope.  This
  71.                  is usually a partial address containing the street address
  72.                  and city/state.  The default file name is LETRHEAD.ENV but
  73.                  may be changed to anything.ENV again using option 5 on the
  74.                  main menu.  Your wordprocessor may be used to create this
  75.                  file as well.

  77.           Note:  When creating the ADR and ENV files, experiment with
  78.           spacing to achieve the desired effect.  Adding blank lines or
  79.           leading blanks before the address information will move the
  80.           addresses around a bit.

  82.           Getting Started:

  84.              1. Load the program LETRHEAD.COM.
  85.              2. Try the various options using the sample logo provided on
  86.                 the included files.
  87.              3. Do your own designs.
  88.              4. If you like it...

  92.          Register by mailing $5.00.  If you would like the Turbo Pascal(tm)
  93.          source code to tinker with, mail $10.00 to the address below.  A
  94.          diskette containing the latest version including source code will be
  95.          returned to you.  With either registration, you will be provided
  96.          with notice of the next new release of the system.  If there is
  97.          enough interest and support, additional functions may be added:
  98.                   - Mailmerge type printing of continuous form envelopes
  99.                   - Support for Hercules type of graphic displays
  100.                   - Support for additional printers
  101.                   - Customized labels

  103.           Copying:

  105.              This program and the associated files may be freely copied and
  106.              distributed.  The only restrictions are that the program and
  107.              files not be modified in any way and that all files be
  108.              included in the copy.
